WALES

Wales is its own country, they speak Welsh and English, but the county is still part of the United Kingdom that is based in the Southwest. Whilst living on the border a couple of years ago, in the quaint town of Chester. I used to venture into the country quite often on my bike to Snowdonia, however, I never hiked much as I didn’t realise how much of Wales there is to explore! Not only do you have Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales) there is also Brecon Beacons National Park too (A hiker paradise). The national parks have turquoise lakes, glacial landforms, and a magnificent mountain range. Also dotted around the country you will be sure to find lots of coastal towns, slate mines and castles. Wales even has the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe!

A country I am eager to explore more of!

Below you will find the hikes/walks have ratings of difficulty and contain mainly my own adventure stories, routes, GPX files and, photographs where I hope you too can discover your very own Welsh adventure.

Summary

Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and is also known as Yr Wyddfa in Welsh. It is the second highest mountain in the United Kingdom too. There are many paths leading to the summit that include 1. Crib Goch, 2. The Watkins path 3. south ridge, 4. PYG track, 5 .Rhyd du path, 6. miners track, 7. ranger path, 8. Llanberis path. I have been up Snowdon a number of times and up different routes that are Crib Goch, the Watkins path, PYG track and Rhyd du path. I have enjoyed everything single route! Especially when it has been good weather and the sunshine has shone over the valley. In the summer time you can make your way to the summit on the train and have lunch at the cafe on the summit which I haven’t done yet. I don’t think you can say you have been up Snowdon though unless you have climbed it!
