Northumberland
Northumberland is a land of romantically ruinous castles, barely visited beaches and vast woodlands. The county is based in the North East of England and lies on the border of Cumbria and North Scotland. There are also the Cheviots in the National Park which are a range of uplands hill, straddling the Anglo-Scottish border between Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. My first visit was based at Alnwick, and I can honestly say I loved it! Being so close to the coast yet having the flexibility to roam in-land to the countryside was a blessing. A place to come back and explore more of and grow more of this page.
Below you will find the hikes/walks have ratings of difficulty and contain mainly my own adventure stories, routes, GPX files and, photographs where I hope you too can discover your very own coastal/woodland adventure.
BLOGS & ROUTES
Thrunton Woods & Coe Crag
Surrounded by huge towering trees , we followed the wide paths that were sign-posted by markers of red and green, due to it being quite popular for cyclists. I assume this is the technicality of the route. We veered off to the right on to a dark path through a narrow opening of trees, where we found ourselves being taken deeper into the forest, unexpected of what to find around the next corner.
