Mallorca

Training camp in one of Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean

Summary

Mallorca is notorious for being one of the most iconic and well know cycling destinations. It is relatively cheap and guaranteed almost sunny weather all year round. We went in early March as they say between then and May is the best time to go. It was my first cycling holiday abroad so everything was new e.g. setting up my bike out of my bike box, riding on the other side of the road, change in terrain and a change in climate too.

The island has a lot of variation. I found that if you wanted to have a hilly day you could easily head to the mountains, but if you wanted a flat day you could stay along the coast. Either way everyday was different, and we had great weather in March which made the experience a lot more enjoyable knowing it was cold and raining back in the UK. The purpose of the trip was to ride hard every day to gain that overall fitness. Most of the people I went with were there to get fitter and better conditioning for the racing season coming up; for me I just wanted to ride my bike somewhere else and experience something different. I enjoy pushing myself so I was happy.
