North 2 South

I felt trapped and needed to get away, somewhere other than Europe. How about the other side of the world?  Okay! This was going to be my biggest solo trip to date. The plan was to hire a car, take my tent and see as much of the country as possible in 3 weeks.  Adventure awaits!

I struggled with the long-haul flight as I find it hard to sleep on planes. I probably slept around 2 hours, so I was very jet lagged when I arrived in Auckland. To make matters worse it was the morning there when it was night-time in the UK, so I had to try and stay awake all day! Trying to find your way around a country when you are jet lagged is hard work!

Once I had hired a car and had a good couple of nights sleep, the travelling didn’t seem as difficult as it was. I was enjoying driving around on my own, having the freedom to roam. Although I was on a bit of a tight schedule to get from A to B. Having the flexibility of taking my tent and camping, saved me a lot of money and time.

There is too much to say about the amazing experience I had for my first solo trip to New Zealand. To sum it up though I can see why so many people have it on their bucket lists. The country offers a lot from Stunning rugged landscapes, gorgeous beaches, ospectacular geothermal and volcanic activity, a temperate climate, fascinating animal and plant life and adventourers looking for thrill seeking opportunities. New Zealand is an unspoiled paradise!
