Ness Glen
A peaceful riverside walk
Summary
Ness Glen is a short but refreshing hike through a secluded woodland area. Within the area is Loch Doon dam, which has carved a beautiful route through a wooded gorge. Ness Glen has a fantastic path that runs alongside the river from the bottom of the gorge, where there is an abundance of 162 species of oceanic moss and ferns. High gorges and fast flowing waters make you feel like you in an almost tropic part of the world. Although it is only short, this gives you a chance to take in your surroundings at an even slower pace before ending with a bite to eat at the ‘Round House’ while admiring stunning views of Loch Doon Dam.
